We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Mother Nature will bring warmer temperatures and clear skies now that our afternoon practices are underway. If you haven’t already signed up for a few slots for your swimmer(s), use the links below–and check out some additional news and reminders as we gear up for summer swim and dive season!

🏊🏽 Sign Up for Afternoon Swim Practices

While FCPS schools are still in session, get a jumpstart on the season by signing up for 2 practice sessions per week per swimmer.

Week 1: We still have openings for Friday 5/29!

Week 2: 6/1 - 6/5

Week 3: 6/8 - 6/12

✅ Get Certified–or Recertified–as an NVSL Official

We know it’s that time of year when everything is happening at once. Luckily, NVSL is offering FREE training for new and returning Referees, Starters, Chief Timers, and Stroke & Turn Judges this weekend and throughout June. Please consider attending a session on Saturday 5/30, Sunday 6/7, Sunday 6/14, or Wednesday 6/17. Remember, we can’t hold our meets without our parent volunteers! Check out the full training clinic schedule to find a time that works for you.

Officiating swim meets isn’t your thing? You’re in luck! We still have several open volunteer positions just waiting for a match. Contact us at [email protected] if you’re interested in filling any of these critical jobs:

• Concessions Coordinator: Co-lead Cafe Piranha with culinary veteran Jill Moore at Pinecrest’s home meets.
• End-of-Season Awards & Banquet Coordinator: Work with the team reps and coaches to host our celebration at the close of the season.
• Picture Day Coordinator: Circulate information about our annual swim and dive picture day (already scheduled for Thursday 7/9) and keep our athletes organized the day of the shoot.

⛺ Book Early Camp Practices for Summer Camp Weeks

Double booked with summer camp and swim practices? Sign up for our early camp practices if your swimmers are unable to attend regular morning practices due to summer camp commitments.

Weekly camp practices will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:00am-8:00am, beginning June 22 and ending July 17. Please note that you must commit to early morning practice for the entire week (swimmers registered for camp practices will not be permitted to attend regular practice sessions during that same week). Pee-Wees are not eligible to attend camp practice times.

For all our new Piranha families–or anyone who needs a refresher–we’ll be hosting a virtual orientation to introduce you to everything you need to know about Pinecrest and the summertime sprint of swim and dive season! Join us on Google Meet Monday 6/1 7:30pm-8:30pm.

New to the team or realizing it’s time for a new suit? Drop by Metro Swim Shop to get your athlete fitted in person (highly recommended!) or order online. Our Piranhas will again be wearing red Arena suits with our team logo. Team suits are not required.
