Important Swim Team Volunteer Updates

Hi PC Swim Families,

Thank you all for supporting the team and signing up for volunteer slots. Job signups for all our Saturday and Monday meets are now open in SwimTopia.

Things are looking good for Saturday, although we do have few more spots to fill, including card runner and concessions / grill master shifts. For Monday, we are about half-filled, so if your kids are swimming, please take a look and sign up. We especially need table/data help. No experience is required as we will have experienced table/data coordinators there to assist.

On an administrative note, we have been approached by several families about ways for alumni swimmers and/or siblings to stay involved. We are thrilled to have many members of the PC family back with us and we want to support their continued involvement with the team throughout the season.

As this is the first time we have had so much interest (at least 3 alumni that we know of), we discussed with Coach Kevin and the Team Reps about volunteer roles for alumni/siblings, as well as participation with the team in general. Based on this discussion, the following guidelines apply for alumni/sibling volunteers at our meets.

For Saturday A Meets –

  • Alumni / Siblings can volunteer for Concessions or Setup / Take Down
  • Alumni / Siblings can volunteer as a Timer, Card Runner, or Table Worker with prior approval by the Team Reps (experience generally required).
  • Alumni / Siblings cannot volunteer as Clerk of Course, Marshal, or any “lead” role such as Chief Timer or Data/Table Lead.

For Monday B Meets –

  • Alumni / Siblings can volunteer for Concessions, Setup / Take Down, Timer, Card Runner, or Table Worker.
  • Alumni / Siblings cannot volunteer as Clerk of Course, Marshal, or any “lead” role such as Chief Timer or Data/Table Lead.

For All Meets – Coach Kevin welcomes Alumni swimmers to join the team in the team area to re-connect with former teammates and help cheer the team on to victory. The swimmers often have some down time between races, and we are certain they will be thrilled to see some of their former teammates and coaches as they wait for their next event.

Lastly, the SwimTopia signup does not have an option (that we have found yet) to edit the name of the person signing up. If you are a parent and signing up for a volunteer spot that will be filled by your older child / alumni swimmer, please send us a message so we know and can plan accordingly. There is a lot of coordination behind the scenes to ensure the meet runs smoothly (e.g. pairing experienced timers with newer timers) and part of that depends on us knowing exactly who will be there to volunteer. We are happy to discuss unique situations on a case-by-case basis, and the final decision on any request will be with the Team Reps.

Thank you all again for your support this season,

Paul & Abbie Shlesinger
